The Chief of Police, Gary Taylor, is a former K-9
handler and trainer, who has over twenty years of
experience. He is married to a school teacher,
Karlene. Gary is also a long time member of the
National Narcotic Detector Dog Assistant. He
judges for competitions and certifying official for
the narcotic K-9's. Gary is also educated in
explosive devices and is an outdoors man.

John is a 22 year veteran of the Olla Police Department.
John now serves as the Assistance Police Chief and the
department investigator. John Stott began his career in
law enforcement in 1986 working as night patrolman for
Sheriff Floyd (Slim) Hodges in Caldwell Parish. In 1988
John began working as a night patrolman under Police
Chief Bobby Cruse.
John has specialized training including homicide
investigation, human trafficking, environmental
regulatory compliance, school violence, hazards and
weapons of mass destruction and incident command,
methamphetamine investigation management,
handcuffing and defensive tactics, emergency response
to terrorism awareness, interviews and interrogation
techniques, domestic violence, sex related crimes
involving adults and juvenile’s, finger printing, crime
scene investigation, crime scene photography, and
NIMS certified from the Department of Homeland
Security. John is post certified, is a certified first
responder and is AED certified.
John is the T.A.C. officer for the onboard computer
systems in the department’s patrol cars. In addition he
maintains and logs all the video evidence from the
onboard camera’s in the four police cars. John is a
former K-9 handler and is trained in highway drug
interdiction.
In addition to his police work, John holds the elective
position of Constable in Wards 2 and 3 for LaSalle
Parish. John is currently serving his third term.
John, his wife Kim and their family are members of
Pinehill Baptist church where he takes part in the
services, sings, and serves on the church music team. In
October of 2005 John and Kim founded the Trinity
Community Missions, a non-profit organization to
minister to the needy in Olla and the surrounding area.
John is proud of the impact they have been able to
make in the community through the Mission House.



Jeff Wyles is a nighttime patrolman. He
has been with the department for 6
years and is married to a school
teacher, Elisha. Jeff also substitutes for
the school on his days off. Jeff is
certified in criminal patrol and drug
interdiction. He is also a state certified
D.A.R.E. officer.
Gavin Prudhomme has been with the Olla
Police Department for 7 years. He attended
the Alexandria Regional Police Academy,
where he served as class chaplain. Gavin is
NIMS certified from the Department of
Homeland Security and received additional
training in the techniques of interviews and
interrogation Gavin works part time with the
LaSalle Parish Ambulance Service at
Hardtner Medical Center in Urania and has
been a EMT-B for 12 years. Certifications
include PHTLS, BDLS, and ADLS. Gavin is
married to Toni, who is a registered nurse.
When he is not working he enjoys spending
his time with his wife and three children.
Gavin takes a tough stance on drugs and
drinking and driving.



Glynn Black is our animal control
officer and Auxillary policeman. He
is an assistant apartment manager
at a local apartment complex. He is
married to Dewanna, who works at
the elementary school. Glynn has
been with the O.P.D. for 16 years.
He is a mason in his spare time
and a member of Tullos First Baptist
Church.
