

Olla Police Department has 4 full-time police officers and 1 part time officer who also serves
as animal control officer.
The O.P.D. has a zero tolerance policy on drugs and drunken driving offenses and have a
strong patrol presence.
We believe that education of our officers’ key to the success of the department. We have a
small family of officer’s and are close friends.
We know that a strong relationship with the people is the golden key. We have a low crime
rate, due to two factors. One is that we have a majority of good people, just plain folk. GOD
fearing folk who work hard. Second reason is the dedicated efforts of the police department.
Twenty-four hour day patrol for the towns’ people. Sixty years of experience if you combined
the four officers.
The Chief of Police, Gary Taylor, is a former K-9 handler and trainer, who has over twenty
years of service. He is married to a school teacher, Karlene. Gary is also a long time
member of the National Narcotic Detector Dog Assistant. He judges for competitions and
certifying official for the narcotic K-9’s. Gary is also educated in explosives devices and is an
outdoors man.
Assistant Chief of Police, John Stott, who has been employed by O.P.D for 18 years, is
married to Kim, a home maker . John does the bulk of the investigative parts of the job. He
is educated in homicide investigation, interview interrogation, finger printing, and crime
scene investigation. He also does the photography for the department. John is also
educated in criminal patrol and drug interdiction. John is a member of Pinehill Baptist
Church where is plays music and sings. John also patrols and does traffic enforcement. He
is supervisor when the Chief is absent. John was elected to the Office of Constable for
District 2-3 and is on his second team.
Jeff Wyles is a nighttime patrolman. He has been with the department for 6 years and is
married a school teacher, Elisha. Jeff also substitutes for the school on his days off. Jeff is
certified in criminal patrol and drug interdiction. He is also a state certified D.A.R.E. officer.
Gavin Prudhomme has been with the department for about 2 years. He was elected class
Chaplin at the Police Academy during his attendance there. He is married to Toni, an R.N.
Gavin also works as an E.M.T. at the local hospital. He rides his motorcycle on his days off.
He also runs regularly. He is a member of Straight Road Full Gospel Church in Olla.
Glynn Black is our animal control officer and Auxiliary policeman. He is an assistant
apartment manager at a local apartment complex. He is married to Dewanna, who works at
the elementary school. Glynn has been with O.P.D. for 16 years. He is a mason in his spare
time and a member of Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church
The Police Department tries to keep up to date on equipment. They have on board video
cameras to ensure officer safety. All the officers are certified with an AED.
We strive to protect and serve the Citizen’s of the Town of Olla.
