The Economy and Infrastructure of Olla

Forestry and oil dominate the local economic base.  The hardworking labor force, excellent transportation network, abundant raw materials and availability of land for commercial and industrial development make Olla an ideal prospect for business development.

The town is developing its Historic District in downtown and has recently appointed 5 new members to the board.  We are excited about what the future holds for the Town of Olla.  There are several grants in the working, one being the Downtown Enhancement Grant.  This grant will  provide opportunities to property owners and businesses in the downtown area.  In addition, Olla has a 51 acre Industrial Site.  This site is currently being certified with the State of Louisiana so that it can be easily found by companies looking for property in which to purchase and or lease.

The Town of Olla recently received a grant through the DHH through the Drinking Revolving Loan Fund.  This project has replaced water meters to electronic badger meters.  This system enables the office staff to view your water consumption digitally.  This project is 95% complete.  This eliminates misread meters and accurate billing.

Infrastructure
Entergy is the area’s electric carrier.  Atmos provides gas service to the area.  Centurylink is the telephone service provider.

The Town of Olla supplies the water, sewer, fire and garbage services for its citizens.
